Our annual Sports Day at the Ewhurst recreation ground at the end of term is a big social event that’s popular with the adults too.  We have fun races for the children – all the classics; sack racing, egg and spoon, obstacle races and relay. The children have fun practicing in the weeks beforehand and don’t take it too seriously!  Younger siblings and grown-ups also have a chance to compete. Afterwards, we have a big family picnic, and a chance to say goodbye to the older children who are moving up to ‘big school’ after the summer holidays.

The Christmas Nativity is the highlight of Angie’s year!

Nativity Play 2008

Our Nativity Play always attracts extended families and rightly so – the children love performing on the big stage. After the main event, we have a fund raising raffle for the grown-ups, children’s raffle & Christmas goody bags, and home made cakes & refreshments, rounding off the school year nicely.

Near the end of term, we hold a Christmas Party Day. The children come to school in their party clothes and we play traditional games like musical bumps, pass the parcel and musical statues. Father Christmas pays a special visit, with pressies for everyone. We can fit a bouncy castle in the hall too!

On Nursery Rhyme Day the children come dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme characters and have a fun day making displays, cooking and decorating special biscuits and of course singing nursery rhymes together and playing games.

The Ewhurst Carnival is a bi-annual event - taking place this year on Saturday 24th July. Rainbows’ End take part in the the themed parade and run a stall selling home-made cakes and painting the children's faces. In 2008, representing “England”, we won 2nd place in the Walkers Group.

Families and friends also join us for The Easter Show to see the children performing their favourite nursery rhymes up on stage.  In the last couple of years, we've hosted an impressive Easter bonnet competition and a local Cranleigh fireman chose the winners of our colouring competition.
