Staff

The staff members who make up Rainbow’s End are a strong, proud team.  They are all part of the local community and between them, they have many years of experience – first as full time mums and now as their children have become more independent as working mums.  Most of their children (thirteen in total) have attended Rainbow’s pre-school.  They hold a variety of qualifications, all have first aid certificates and attend Surrey County Council Workshops regularly in order to keep up to date with their training.

Angie Thomas - Manager & Key Person (Orange Group)

Angie joined as Deputy Manager in January 2004, along with her youngest child and took over as Manager in September 2004.

Angie has an NNEB qualification and is currently studying for a Foundation Degree in Management and Leadership in the Early Years.  Previously Angie worked as a Nanny in Surrey, held two teaching assistant posts (at Ewhurst Infant School and St Hilary’s in Godalming),and worked at Daisy Chain Day Nursery in Guildford as a Pre-school Room Leader. Immediately prior to joining Rainbow’s End, she owned and managed Elderslie Nursery School in Ockley for 8 years.

"My favourite activity is story time because I love to see the children’s imagination working.  They learn so much - and have a great time.”

Becky Lee - Deputy Manager & Key Person (Red Group)

Becky joined in 2006 and was promoted to Deputy Manager at the end of 2009.  Prior to this she was at home raising her two daughters, both of whom attended Rainbow’s End. She is currently training for her Level 3 qualification.

Becky has a wonderfully calm manner and is very popular with the younger children.  If new children are unsettled when they first arrive, they usually seek out Becky for comfort. Becky is very creative and encourages the children to make wonderful props for our themed days.

Jill Barnett - Key Person (Blue Group)

Jill joined Rainbow’s End in 1995 along with her 3 year old daughter when her son was at infants school.  Jill’s strength is with “the boys”.  She is great at maintaining their interest when listening to stories or working on letter sounds.  Jill holds a Level 2 qualification.

As our longest serving member of staff, Jill has seen many changes in Government regulations, particularly in the last five years with the introduction of both Ofsted and Early Years to nursery schools.  She remains cheerfully enthusiastic and is adept at dealing with all the new criteria.

Tracey Webb - Key Person (Yellow Group)

Tracey holds a BTech Diploma in Early Years teaching and joined Rainbow's End in January 2009, having previously worked at Shamley Green Pre-School as Assistant Manager.  She has quickly become a firm favourite with the children.

For the past 3 years, alongside studying and working, Tracey has been 'Holiday Activities Supervisor' at Cranleigh Leisure Centre - looking after and entertaining 5-13 year olds during the holidays.

Linda Fuller - Key Person (Purple Group)

Linda is our newest member of staff, joining in January 2010. She is trained to NVQ Level 3 and is with us 4 mornings each week. Linda runs the "outstanding" COCO's after school club at Ewhurst School and until December last year she was Manager of Abinger Common Nursery/Pre-School for 9 years.

At Abinger she cared for 26 children and managed 9 staff so she has bags of experience and is already proving popular with the children at Rainbow's.

Alison Mair - Key Person (Green Group)

Alison joined us in September 2009.  She has been a valuable and active member of the Committee since her son and daughter both joined Rainbow's End in September 2007.

Ali has been at home raising her children since 2004, prior to which she travelled the world for 17 years as cabin crew in the airline industry.

Jayne Seaward - Key Person (Green Group)

Having volunteered over the past year, Jayne joined us officially in December 2009. Her youngest daughter is in her 'final year' at Rainbows and her eldest left us for big school five years ago.

Prior to joining us, Jayne was a part time classroom assistant at Ewhurst School (remaining there on lunchtime duty once a week). Before becoming a mum, she worked as BA cabin crew for 12 years.

Mia Whitney - Administrator

Mia works with us three mornings a week keeping on top of the administration. She is mum to three girls; the eldest both joined Rainbow's six years ago and Mia has been involved with the committee and generally helping out ever since.

You may recognise Mia from St Cuthbert Mayne school in Cranleigh where she has worked as Secretary three days a week for the past two years.
