Our Weekly Routine

Cooking

Each week, children have the opportunity to make something to eat which they take home with them.  Our cooking sessions encourage fine motor skill development, comprehension and listening skills as well as mathematical understanding.

The Great Outdoors

Although the village hall is spacious and we have our own extended garden thanks to the fundraising efforts of parent and local businesses, we like to get out in the fresh air as much as possible.  The local recreation ground and park are easily accessible via a footpath which runs from the rear of the village hall (without having to negotiate any roads).

Physical Education
During our PE session we use equipment such as hoops, cones, quoits, beanbags, balancing bars and a parachute to develop your child’s coordination and balance. Getting changed for these activities also aids their development by teaching them to dress themselves and encouraging independence for school.

Arts and Crafts

We hold frequent craft/painting sessions, the activity for which is chosen to correspond with the half-termly theme and encourages the child’s creativity.

Music

Most sessions involve singing and dancing to encourage the children to sing along with their favourite songs and to learn new ones.  We also give them the opportunity to use instruments – tambourines, bells, xylophones, shakers and triangles.  It really is music to their ears and develops their creative talents.
